Yogurt Maker Envy

(From here)

I have a case of yogurt maker envy

and it is bad.

So, let's get one thing clear - I love yogurt. I like to try lots of different kinds of yogurts. I like to buy yogurt every week for my lunch, and I like to try all sorts of brands. I think it's safe to say that I am obsessed.

But one of my friends has taken it a step further. She bought that yogurt maker pictured above.

She brought over a cup of just plain low-fat yogurt she made and it was perfection. It didn't need any additives!!!! It was creamy and light, and had the texture of creme fraiche. I had it for dinner one night with a side of blueberries, and I couldn't have been happier.

I am not ready to move my bread maker aside and buy a new gadget for my kitchen, but I am quite intrigued to say the least.

If this has piqued your interest in buying some new kitchen gadgets, use these Williams Sonoma coupons to help you save!

There are some great yogurt makers on sale on Amazon as well (like this one).
Free shipping.
Could be here in two days.
All ready for the weekend....

Do any of you own a yogurt maker? OR even better, do you make your own homemade yogurt?

did you know you could make yogurt in a crock pot? assuming you have one, it might be worth your while to give that a try instead of buying another unitasker.

google brings up a ton of recipes, but here's the one i've seen most recently in my internet travels.

Yup - I linked to one of the homemade recipes from Simple Dollar blog as well. I am nervous about how MUCH yogurt it makes at a time, but I agree that I should probably try that first before I take up more cabinet space (of which I have none anyway :) )

Crock pot is a great idea. I've also read of people just using the pilot light in the oven.

I bought a yogurt maker, but then found I actually preferred just using the warming drawer underneath the stove.

Anon - Oh wow, you actually preferred the crockpot way? Any reasons why? Was the taste different or was it just easier?
