Friday Morning Haiku

My flowers are dead
A desert replaced my lawn
I should water twice?

This week's weather was pretty unbearable.  I don't like walking outside and sweating in two minutes.  GROSS.
One good thing that has come out of this is that I have discovered my love for Snoballs.  Now I understand why there are 5 million* snoball stands in a 2 mile proximity from where I live - they are CRUCIAL in hot weather.  I'm not saying I've just tried one for the first time, but for some reason I just never thought about getting a snoball as a cool treat.  What a mistake!

I have found out that Egg Custard is a Baltimore flavor - so I've been ordering that, and I like it!  I don't really understand what it should taste like, but I don't mind. So far I've been to Snoasis on Padonia Road in Cockeysville (they have shaved iced) and Snobros on York Road in Timonium (who have crushed ice).  I am guessing that despite their choice in Ice Consistency, most snoball stands are pretty similar?

Any other flavors that you love and you recommend me to try?

*I also love to exaggerate

Try Tropicool at Falls and Lake. They have snoballs and ice cream, which is good since I'm really an ice cream girl. Have you done marshmallow on top yet?

yay for egg custard! I finally had one when I visited my folks last weekend - somebody really needs to start selling them in DC.

Apparently I need to get in on this Marshmallow business!!!! I haven't tried it yet. I did try a "Hawaiian" style Egg Custard which I didn't really like because it was a much thicker syrup.

Allthingsjuice - I haven't been to Tropicool but I see it all the time. I'll have to make a stop there!

well, keep in mind the marshmallow topping will be thick. it's basically marshmallows that haven't been set out to set and harden (i believe they add an extra ingredient to keep the topping fluid).

hmmmm thanks for looking out. For some reason, thick and creamy works well in my head - but thick syrup doesn't do it for me, so I think I will like the marshmallow, or at least I will definitely try it next time :)

I have my own small snowball machine and buy my flavors at Kold Kiss downtown. Their website lists all the different flavors they carry. My favorites are Spearmint and Grape. A chocolate snowball is also great, especially with a scoop of ice cream in it!
