A friend of mine introduced me to Foodzie, a website that sells specialty food products. I was browsing around and saw that they sell a $20 Tasting Box where they send you some sample sizes of some of their favorite products. I immediately got excited and thought I would maybe give it a try.....until I told my friends about it and they did not share my enthusiasm.
One friend suggested that I should just spend $20 each month and pick out some stuff on Amazon that I would want to try each month. I suggested I loved the "surprise" aspect of it all. The same friend then quickly answered that I should just give him the $20 and he'll pick out things for me ahahahaha
So what do you think? Would you rather have the surprise of the Tasting Box or just put aside $20 each month and pick out what you want from Amazon/Trader Joe's/Wegmans/Whole Foods?
Personally, a whole Specialty-Food-of-the-Month-Club sounds kinda awesome to me. But as Dan said "$240 a year for chocolate and granola!?!?!?!?!" kinda puts it in perspective hahahahaha.

I'm fine with the idea of a box of surprise treats, but I'm not all that thrilled with paying $20 for five *sample* size packs. Unless the samples are truffles and foie gras, of course.
I agree - I wonder how big those samples are. $20 can get me a lot of delicious things at Wegmans!
Why would you allow friends who don't support or even seem to understand your thirst for adventure and natural curiosity to actively and sourly underminne these superior qualities?
How is poking around Wegman's remotely comparable to having a surprise delivered? In a box?
There is nothing in Wegman's remotely comparable to a curated assortment of treats, delivered in a box!
Worse yet -- paying an undermining, sourpuss friend to do it!?!?
You are 100% right about wanting the surprise tasting and they are 100% wrong.
A boat's a boat but the mystery box could be anything! It could even be a boat! You know how much we've wanted one of those.

Dear Gorelick,
So as to gratify your superior natural curiosity sooner rather than later, here's a spoiler alert regarding my response: you're wrrrrroooooooooong and you're an idiot. Now that we've got that out of the way, let's see how we backed into it.
"Why would you allow friends who don't support or even seem to understand your thirst for adventure and natural curiosity"
At the behest of our dear blogger, I offered an alternative to the suggestion that $20 a month for product samples is a good idea. I know I'm going out on a limb, but I believe said thirst for adventure can be quenched in other ways.
"to actively and sourly underminne these superior qualities?"
Actively undermining? Maybe. Sourly? How dare you, sir.
"How is poking around Wegman's remotely comparable to having a surprise delivered? In a box?"
Two words: Shrimp Purse. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to get your head out of the gift-sized sampler boxes and head to Wegmans immediately. Hell, you can even get them to go... IN A BOX.
"There is nothing in Wegman's remotely comparable to a curated assortment of treats, delivered in a box!"
We get it, you hate Wegmans and like boxes. Just re-read my response above and let's move on.
"Worse yet -- paying an undermining, sourpuss friend to do it!?!?"
I'm a 100% non-profit organization, son. I ain't skimmin' off the top. Furthermore, a Taste Box is not personal. Were I to buy the same foods online and send them to Nakiya myself, we would have a commonality amidst the items. A shared experience, if you will.
Me: "Nakiya! I remember that you love figs! How did you like the balsamic fig sauce I got you this month?"
Nakiya: "Oh, I love it! It's the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Would she have had that conversation with Taste Box? No. It would have been a meaningless one-sided conversation:
Nakiya: "wtf is an Oatcake?"
Re: the sourpuss comment, I have no response. If I weren't a sourpuss before reading your post, I am unequivocally one now.
Oh, and one more thing. If I got her these things every month from online, guess what they would be delivered in? That shit would be IN A BOX.
"You are 100% right about wanting the surprise tasting and they are 100% wrong."
I don't recall attacking the underlying premise. Everyone likes opening a box and getting a treat. I'm just suggesting that I can do it better for Nakiya than Taste Box can. I could even do it better while shopping solely at Wegmans.
The question is: why do you care? I can think of only one reason: YOU WORK FOR FOODZIE! To deny it is to confirm it. You, sir, have been henceforth discredited. Good day.
lolololol drew
But seriously you should do the $20/month thing - you would be able to find Nakiya stuff she would LOVE!
Woh. I think this settles it. Drew vs. The Foodzie Box. Let's do this and see who wins.
I bought a tasting box! Review to follow once I receive it!
Can't believe you let Gorelick and Sessa talk you into spending your money to satisfy their curiosity. :)
ahahahaha but I reallllllllly want to know what's inside the box!!!! :)
