A Taco Related Confession

So I have another confession to make.  I made taco seasoning for the first time last night.

Yes, that means that I've only used the McCormick Taco Seasoning Packets for all my homemade Taco meals :( :( :(   I am ASHAMED.  I think this is worse than me just making Iced Tea for the first time....

Anyway, yesterday I was in the middle of preparing dinner when I realized I didn't have a taco seasoning packet!  So I got out my Joy of Cooking book and rifled through for something similar and followed some of their directions (they wanted me to add tomato sauce....which I did not want to do)...here is what I did:

Super Easy Taco Seasoning!!!!
(adapated from Joy of Cooking)

1lb of ground meat (I used turkey)
2 cloves of minced garlic
2 tbsp chili powder
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp ground coriander

yay so easy!  so delicious!  I will never buy those stupid packets again.  I am sooo embarrassed that it was this easy :)

I'm embarrased to admit that I use the packet. I really should buckle down and tweak my own recipe - thanks for the head start.

PS Cute new header!

I never knew you could make taco seasoning! I guess I just always thought it came in a packet and that's that, like city kids think bacon comes from the supermarket. Way to be intrepid!

we used to use those as well and then one time we just looked at the ingredients listed and realized we already had all of them at home!
